HONORS LONG OVERDUE
Fnding A Way To Say Thank You
The Vietnam War, for a generation of Americans who lived through it, was a watershed moment for our nation. For those who served, many not be choice, the homecoming was not one that honored them nor their selfless sacrifice. While it is impossible to recreate the moment when they should have been welcomed home in a manner befitting all American heroes, it is a small gesture to set aside a moment to collectively say thank you to all who were called to serve.
COMING TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY
Alachua County and the greater Gainesville area is home to thousands of Vietnam Veterans who work and live as a vibrant members of our community. Home to the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, the nation's largest Veterans health care delivery system, the community is dedicated to honoring the many military Veterans who call the are home. The effort to pull together resources to celebrate the Vietnam Veteran community is one that crosses all boundaries and has been pulled together with support from federal and local agencies as well as the support of individual citizens.
